We’re Ben and Justine, the husband-and-wife team behind Blacktop Event Co.

Blacktop grew from a pretty simple realization: the best events were never the ones where we had the most equipment.

 

They were the ones where we knew the people in the room.

Ben has spent more than a decade DJing weddings, private events, nightlife, community celebrations, and live events. Over the years, one thing kept proving itself again and again: when there’s trust between the DJ, the couple, the family, and the people in the room, everything feels easier.

Some of Ben’s favorite weddings came from a venue where he had already DJed event after event. After Ben worked there roughly fifteen times, the venue owner specifically requested him for both of his daughters’ weddings.

That meant more to us than any equipment list ever could.

When those wedding days arrived, Ben already knew the family. They knew him. They trusted that part of the night was handled.

That feeling became part of the reason Blacktop exists.

We Want to Know Who We’re Celebrating With

 

We don’t want your first real interaction with us to happen while guests are walking into your wedding.

We want you comfortable enough to send us a song you found and say, “This has to make it into the wedding somehow.”

We want to remember the family stories, know which friends are going to live on the dance floor, and laugh with you about the ridiculous thing somebody did at the last party.

Because when the big day arrives, familiarity matters.

It means less figuring each other out and more enjoying what you spent all that time planning.

Bring What the Event Needs

 

Blacktop isn’t built around Gold, Platinum, Diamond, or whatever package name somebody invented this week.

You’re hiring Blacktop.

Our job is to bring the sound, lighting, preparation, and production your event actually needs. If a larger event genuinely requires more equipment or a different production setup, we’ll tell you why.

We’d rather make the event better than spend the planning process trying to sell you another blinking object.

More Than One Night

 

Our goal isn’t to DJ one event for you and disappear.

We’d love to be there for the wedding, then hear from you again for the anniversary. The birthday. The family celebration. The company party. Someday, maybe another wedding in the family.

We want Blacktop to become the call you make before you start shopping for another DJ.

Because at the end of the day, there’s something better than DJing for strangers:

DJing for people you already know.
