Blacktop Event Co. is a New Bern-based DJ and event entertainment company built by owner and operator Benjamin Hall after more than a decade in music, weddings, private events, nightlife, and live production.

Before Blacktop, Benjamin spent years behind the booth, behind the scenes, and in the middle of busy event spaces where timing, energy, sound, and professionalism all matter. From weddings and private parties to city events, nightlife, and full-scale celebration environments, he has been part of well over 200 events and understands that great entertainment is about more than just playing music.

It is about reading the room.
It is about keeping the night moving.
It is about knowing when to lead, when to step back, and when to bring the energy up.
It is about making people feel comfortable enough to celebrate.

Blacktop Event Co. was created to bring that experience to weddings, private parties, school events, breweries, festivals, and community gatherings across New Bern and Eastern North Carolina.

Benjamin brings a background in DJing, MC work, sound, lighting, event flow, hospitality, and production. That combination matters. It means Blacktop is not just showing up with speakers and a playlist. We are showing up with a plan.

About the Owner

Benjamin Hall is the owner and lead DJ behind Blacktop Event Co. His event background began on the West Coast, where he operated and performed through event brands including Bad Apple Events in California and Sound Embrace Events in Oregon. Over the years, he developed a style rooted in crowd awareness, clean transitions, strong communication, and a genuine love for creating moments people remember.

After moving to New Bern, Benjamin launched Blacktop Event Co. as a fresh brand for Eastern North Carolina — combining years of event experience with a renewed focus on weddings, private celebrations, community events, and mobile entertainment.

Blacktop Event Co. is not trying to be the biggest event company in the region. The goal is better than that: to be dependable, creative, organized, and easy to work with — the kind of company people feel good about recommending.
